How to Use Hot Honey
Hot honey is the easiest upgrade in the kitchen: a spoonful at the end turns pizza, fried chicken, cheese and roast veg into something people ask about. Here's how to use hot honey, with our go-to hot honey recipes.

The one rule: add it at the finish. Honey scorches quickly over high heat, and a drizzle on hot food keeps the sweetness up front and the habanero kick clear.
Pizza
The classic. Drizzle over pepperoni, nduja, sausage or a plain margherita straight out of the oven. It also works on white pizzas with ricotta, mozzarella or goat's cheese. Full guide: hot honey for pizza.
Chicken and wings
- Hot honey chicken – crispy buttermilk fried thighs brushed with a warm hot honey butter glaze.
- Hot honey wings – oven-baked or air-fryer wings tossed in hot honey, butter and lime.
- Roast chicken – brush over the skin for the last 5 minutes only, then rest.
Cheese and halloumi
- Hot honey halloumi – fried golden, then hit with hot honey, lemon and thyme in the pan.
- Hot honey and cheese – baked camembert, cheese toasties, goat's cheese and cheese boards.
- Mature Cheddar or Stilton on a cracker with a few drops on top. Simple and very hard to stop eating.
Veg
- Roast carrots, parsnips or squash at 200°C (fan) for 30–35 minutes, then toss with a tablespoon of hot honey and a pinch of sea salt as they come out.
- Crispy sprouts or cauliflower: roast hard, finish with hot honey and a squeeze of lemon.
- Sweet potato wedges or roast potatoes: a light drizzle just before serving.
Brunch and eggs
- Fried eggs on sourdough with a drizzle over the top.
- Streaky bacon in a soda farl or bap – hot honey instead of brown sauce.
- Pancakes with crispy bacon, or fried halloumi on toast with avocado.
Desserts
- Vanilla ice cream with a spoonful of hot honey and flaky sea salt. Sounds odd, works brilliantly.
- Thick Greek yoghurt with granola and a drizzle.
- Over a plain baked cheesecake, or with dark chocolate and a cheese board after dinner.
